REMINDS ME OF MY BUS RIDIN DAYS ON CONTINENTAL, CAROLINA TRAILWAYS AND OF COURSE, GREYHOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( I USED TO DRIVE FOR CAROLINA WHEN THEY HAD THE 4 AND THE 5 SPEED MCI 9'S!!!!)
-
I MISS IT SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
@rustym88 please do that!!! i really need to see how an mc-7 should be sounding when driven correctly
-
@rustym88 What do you mean when you say Lugging and Overspeeding will KILL the engines , explain please I'm very interested.
-
All the MCI 7 drivers seem to have had problem changing gears. I once thought it was the bus gear box design, but now I think the drivers were not well trained on how to clutch the MCI & what is your take on this???

Is that bus for sale?

Thanks for the memories! When I was a little boy my family and I would ride the St. Louis-Kansas City I-70 express. The MC7's were new and seemed like very nice buses. Actually, we would connect in St. Louis with older 4106's buses and the MC7 seemed like a much nicer bus.

2-stroke Detroit Diesels don't 'scream'...they SING when operated properly. I have three buses with 8V-71N engines(4-valve heads). 2 GM PD4106s and 1 '69 MC-7. All are retired Greyhounds. Lugging and overspeeding will KILL these engines. Once moving, hold 1500-2100 rpm range. LUGGING ruins pistons, rings and bearings. Overspeeding can easily scatter and destroy the engine. Run 'em right!

I own '69 MCI MC-7 #7732, an ex-Greyhound. When you ride on MY bus, the engine NEVER 'screams' in agony; it SINGS in harmony! No gear grinding. no lugging or dangerous overspeeding of the engine, or jerking while applying the brakes. I'll majke a video soon and post it so y'all can see how it's done correctly! - MC-7 Rusty
My God They Sure Don't Build 'Em Like That Anymore. Wow!! Great Video.

Nothing sounds like an old 318 Detroit. I used to love to drive them and listen to them scream.
