and THIS is why ALL comments should ALWAYS be DISABLED - because most people are mentally disabled, or at least act like it.
-
This is Super ill,Definitely Zoning out to it.

@Hess015 Wrong, that would be Schooly D, and since when did the beastie boys even make gangsta rap. I didn't say black people owned anything, your analogy makes no sense.
-
@paulandj by this arguement, the beastie boys created gangsta rap which would mean that white people own gangster rap. think of how retarded that sounds
-
@paulandj races don't express hate nor do they use music. specific members from this or that race express and use, not races. if you want to speak about such issues, which i believe you really care about, then do it in a more refined fashion. not willing to confront you or anything. just some advice. peace!

The FUNK came from SPACE. No arguments required. Nobody on earth can lay claim to it
-
You fellas argue all you want. I'm going to use my time to enjoy life and this beautiful piece.
-
Caring about ethnic backgrounds is such and old fashion way of thinking. Good music never goes out of fashion.
-
@6billiondeaths Listen, I didn't say I don't like or don't listen to other races or nationalities that make music that was influenced or created by African Americans. I just said I don't appreciate that every race has expressed how they hate us but use our music and try to act like we didn't create or influence it in the first place.

@paulandj This 'ownership' of music you talk of is quite strange because surely one of the most redemptive, brilliant qualities of music is that race, nationality, etc etc are not relevent. By your logic would you like everyone not black to stop making Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop etc etc music because it was originally conceived by black people? Surely that would be to the detriment of music as a whole?
-
@paulandj If a black person sung Christmas Carols would you call that stealing no you fricking wouldn't because as Jacko said it don't matter if you're black or white. Louis Armstrong covered White Christmas by Bing Crosby, written by Irving Berlin, white man: Stealing? HECK NO. There are probably thousands more examples like this so it works both ways, and that's why nobody but you calls it stealing.
-
@paulandj I'm stubborn on this point because I'm white? My beliefs are through education not being born white. Besides calling that a ridiculous argument, I won't try and parry it because to do so in equivalent form would mean making assumptions about you based on your race, which would definitely be racist. Let's stick to discussion of points made, rather than speculation as to environmental or hereditary factors causing the other to hold said disputed beliefs.
-
@paulandj where I live we don't have white or black people music it's just music. Can't you see how your lamenting the assimilation of 'black music' into other social and ethnic groups promotes an exclusivist attitude that would seek to deny access or influence to these genre from anyone else. By complaining that caucasians have adopted, developed or even dominated black music styles you are effectively supporting segregation in music culture = 1 big step backwards.
-
@6billiondeaths Well, Hip Hop is way out of black people's hands. We don't own it anymore. White record companies do, and white kids are the main consumers and supporters so why not cater to them. Hip Hop is going through the same thing rock and jazz did, it's been taken over. One day Hip Hop might be considered white peoples music just like rock.
-
@paulandj I would also like to ask you what do you think of rap/hip hop (a traditionally 'black' music form)? Because it sells itself to young, white men - do you feel like they are selling out? Do you think it's a good thing that so many people can enjoy an African American art form??
-
@paulandj So what if it is influenced by 'you'? I'm happy to be inspired, influenced, motivated, call it what you will by anyone musically. It's strange how you are turning music into a racial issue (especially from an African American perspective) because music is probably the most open, fluid part of western culture which actually subverts race - skin colour is not important when it comes to music
im wondering who told you guys music had a color. music is the timeless, shapeless massive moving this world forward. im black, and see no color, just harmony in music. put the colors in context, and they become irrelevant, this funky ass music should suffice.

Apparently paulandj has been appointed the spokesperson of all black people. He's got it all figured out, multiculturalism and race relations..... solved.
