http://www.gearshift.tv - The Washington Area Bicycle Association needed to get the word out on two common problems that cyclist face when riding in the city. The "Right Hook" Turn and "Dooring". Cars often speed up to pass a bike and turn right instead of falling in line behind the bike and then turning right. The other problem is when a parked car door opens suddenly and a bike runs in to the door. Ouch. These videos should help explain the proper procedures. This video was shot on 1080p Sony cameras by Gearshift HD.
I agree. You must look before you open your door. Wait until a biker gets with a couple feet of your rear bumper, swing your door open, and watch the hilarity ensue!

"Passengers or drivers sometimes open doors suddenly - cyclists call this 'dooring'".
Wrong. Getting "doored" is when you actually get hit by the door. That event has to take place for there to be any "dooring".
