Dear friends,
Yesterday's email made things happen. We received an email from the president clarifying the situation concerning prof. Tambourkovsky. There was a two-hour talk with president Huwiler, as well as two meetings with the Student Government.

Now think what today's protest will do.

There are general changes that have to be made. They are based on specific issues. These issues are indicative of bigger problems, such as:

No faculty-student input in faculty selection over the summer (The hiring of a professor with an unclear background.)
Suggested solution: Reform the procedure.

The lack of information flow (Students not being informed about the cancellation of the all_stud email. Not considering how the change in the working hours of the main buildings would impact the students, nor requesting their opinion on it. Not clarifying if the Board of Trustees' Book was open information.)
Suggested solution: Let's define what's public and what's not.

The inability of the OCC to consistently perform at a level befitting AUBG (Constant interruptions of the Internet connection.)
Suggested solution: Considering an external evaluation of the network infrastructure.

Poor interpersonal communication skills in key administrative/staff positions (The refusal of a part of the senior administration to comment on certain issues and the overall inappropriate attitude of some OCC officers towards us.)
Suggested solution: The introduction of a Code of Conduct, agreed upon by the student government, the student media, and the administration.

In order to get the message through, today's protest has to be intelligent. It has to be conducted in a peaceful manner. Let's do the following:

We gather at 4:30 pm in front of the Main Building. We will be provided with a yellow card, a whistle, and two copies of the petition form (composed of the four points mentioned above.) We sign our individual petition forms. We go to the Provost's office. We "blow the whistle." When the Provost comes out of her office, we show her the yellow card. Then every single one of us hands her the signed petition, and we leave to repeat the procedure in front of the Dean of Faculty's office.

We are not trying to create more problems but solve the current ones. We are sure that together we can make things happen.

We can do it. We should do it. Let's do it.
