Squeeze Your Thumbs

"No vacancies" echoes in Heike Kollers ears. Shes just stepped off the boat into New York City from Germany to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer songwriter, but shell be lucky if she can just find a decent place to live. Not one to give up easily, Heike will win your heart as she struggles to learn a new language, find an apartment, and perform her music to some less-than-enthusiastic audiences. Will she make it in NYC? Or will the big city harden her and make her forget her humble beginnings? "Squeeze Your Thumbs" is Heike Kollers transformation from disenfranchised immigrant to rising star of the music worlda heartwarming story about Americas open arms to outsiders.
Made as part of the 2005 New York 48 Hour Film Project, Squeeze Your Thumbs represents what results when Playomatic Media Group only has 48 hours to conceive, script, produce, shoot, edit, score and master a short film. On the evening of Friday, July 8th, Playomatic randomly drew the "Foreign Language" genre out of a hat again and was informed the following items must be included in the film:
Prop: Musical Instrument
Character: A. Simon, Maitre de
Line of Dialogue: "Did you hear what I said?"
This acclaimed short was shot on Saturday, July 9th in New York City and edited on Sunday, July 10th in Manhattan.
