The 1958 Disney documentary into lemmings that won the academy award. Footage of lemmings jumping off cliffs was later found out to be faked. Edited version just showing the fake footage.. very funny although maybe not for the lemmings

eugenicist walter disney was not above scaring these creatures up to the edge and push them off. you can even see some of them running in hiding after having fallen off the first cliff.

@jensmusicfaves I think we see them plummeting into a rock wall as well. Whether they were in sheer agony and fear or dead doesn't make it anything less than despicable animal abuse.

Ah, plus, they (Disney) purchased the footage, anyway, and weren't personally responsible for it or its lack of veracity. (But my point stands: it doesn't appear that any lemmings actually died in these scene[s].)

Actually, as silly as this faked scene is, it's really impossible to say that any of the lemmings died. The last scene of the lemmings is of them swimming around (yeah, still in motion) not far off the shore.. it's quite possible the film crew (who would've been dressed for doing such things) scooped them out of the water and dumped them on the beach before they left the set. (I mean, I doubt any of the filmers were actual sadists.. it's just that any documentation of that sort of thing would..
