Foul Play - Open Your Mind.

One of the most important collectives in breakbeat dance's shift from hardcore to jungle during the early '90s, Foul Play was responsible for seminal drum'n'bass tracks like "Open Your Mind," "Being with You" and their remix of Omni Trio's "Renegade Snares" (all recorded for Moving Shadow Records). The trio of Steve Bradshaw, John Morrow and Steve Gurley began releasing material in the early '90s, on their own Imprint label as well as Section 5 and Oblivion. From 1992 to 1994, Foul Play recorded a raft of classic tracks for Moving Shadow. Though Gurley left in 1994 to join Rogue Unit, the remaining duo kept working on producing and released only the second artist full-length on Moving Shadow, 1995's Suspected. Foul Play also founded another label, Panik Records, though Bradshaw's tragic death in 1998 left the group's future cloudy. Morrow returned the following year with a new project, Foul Play Productions, organized with producer Neil Shepherd.

  • His house smelt

  • @zonetrooper5 I've read that they sampled from Kleeer (Open you mind) for this but I couldn't find the vocals either...I could send you an AWESOME article from '94 that details the (then) burgeoning hardcore scene in London....

I'm stateside and I got into all this great shit back in 91...

  • @cdownfan YES!

  • @Deegun78

    Thanks man.

  • @zonetrooper5

    Love so fine - Sahara

  • Really love the last minute of this song, vocals are so awesome. Anyone know where they sampled those vocals from?

  • okay. thanks!

  • You'd have better luck on discogs.

  • Open Your Mind was never released on Oblivion Records. Also, to anyone wanting to bag the release pictured, good luck! It's £ 30.00 for a decent copy. The first release on the label is nearly four times that on discogs.

  • this must be one rare tune, I've seen Foul stuff on eBay; but I haven't seen this once...

I'm deffo gonna download this! Thanks for the upload
