hi adam ramsey i was flying a glider over burn at the begining of may 2011 when u flew over i tipped my wings and you signalled back was this you or another crew.

@awuma Also helmet and mask were required by US Air Force during low level flight, and take-off and landing, in aircraft so equipped. For two reasons, in case of the need to eject and for bird strike protection.

@awuma I got to go on a few ride-alongs on my B-52 as Crew Chief and the pilots always prefered that crew members use their mask....like you said....because of the ambient noise. B-52 was very lacking on creature comforts. I remember one junior navigator using his A1C's and the pilots getting on him to get into his mask and helmet because of the noise.

Great video! Why are the pilots wearing masks for such low-altitude maneuvers? The masks seem cumbersome and distracting. I assume that the ejector seats are disabled. Smoke precaution? Or is the ambient cockpit noise too great for ordinary mikes?

Because the ambient noise is quite loud. Because we might get fumes from the air conditioning and therefore the engine oil system up our snouts. Because Martin is really ugly normally!! Bet your small bibby the seats work!!

This was just a first test with the GoPro Hero to see how well the video would come out, hopefully more videos to come so long as enough money keeps coming in to keep the Vulcan flying :)
