By request:close up video of pianist's hand position on Meade Lux Lewis' Honky Tonk Train Blues. Original arrangement plus improvised choruses. Recorded at Fritzels during Mardi Gras week in New Orleans.
The best boogie woogie ever written as played by Jim Hession. For the better part of 35 years Jim was a featured pianist for Disneyland as well as Disney World. From 1967-2003 Jim was a featured pianist at both parks playing Coke Corner, New Orleans Square, Main St. USA, The Grand Californian to name only a few of the locations.

It's fantastic! two hands of the Addam's are playing piano! ....and the strange thing is that it is not a funeral song! :)

Need to get that sheet music. Close. Was the first boogie piece I learned. Did it by ear and then found the sheet music and cleaned it up. I was close but it's got some intricate stuff in there that really makes a difference.

I confess to knowing nothing of 7ths,ninths,fifths or whatever-does that make my appreciation of this wonderful perfmance the less?I am overjoyed when I hear music of this quality! Thanks to the man with 8 hands!

Meade did the original......who would want to copy that?
It is up to the rest of us to put our own concepts into an established piece and see if individuality can complement the original.
Thanks for listening

It's good, but the bass should change DOWN on the 5th bar not up! Listen to Meade.

very observant, but this was a choice. I happen to prefer incorporating the dominant 7th and 9th tones in the IV7 chord-it gives the harmony more bite....quite often I refer to original versions as a guide and do not always feel that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Great version!!! Although I think you're playing with a bit of a "sticky left hand" if you know what I mean. A little more staccato would be nice, although very hard, I know. Love your right hand, really fantastic. Don't mind Ashepp's comments.

Glad you enjoyed it! I looked up the term "sticky left hand" in the Dictionary of Musical Terms but was unable to find it...
Seriously, my use of a slight legato approach to the left hand figure is intended to produce more of a "bluesy groove." You won't find that term either in the DMT.
