Well, to be fair to Helmer, there wasn't a box chalked out. So in essence, how can you enforce a batters box that isn't there. I know everyone is supposed to know where the box is, but you can't enforce it if there isn't one chalked out.
Actually you can enforce a box even if its not chalked. USSSA has by far the smallest box in softball, yet their umpires never enforce it at the major level
