I find push/pull to be one of the most useful techniques. I can now do 16th notes at 180 BPM with one hand (after warming up of course).

I would be inclined to agree with the golfers out there lol.
I can reach 32nd notes at 130 BPM if I warm up for a while but Mike Mangini currently holds the record at 1247 single strokes in 60 seconds! Just when you think your fast and have mastered a certain technique, you find someone who wipes the floor with what you can do lol.

You may want to check out the push / pull method and freehand technique. Finger control is great for speed but is hard to keep going for long periods. That's where I would use a more efficient technique like those mentioned above. I can get almost buzz roll speed with freehand technique.
I have a video tutorial on the freehand on here if you have not seen it yet, check out my channel. I will be doing one for the push / pull method soon too!
Do you belive that push/pull is a technique worth spending time on? I understand you "mastered" it, does it have a wide range of dynamics? In what areas is it applicable?

I believe all techniques are worth spending time on. Its not the loudest of techniques but it has a reasonable dynamic range. As for where its applicable, its a very efficient technique as you get two even sounding notes for each hand movement. I probably get the most out of it when playing double stroke rolls but I use it whenever that type of efficiency is required.
As previously mentioned, I was taught with a learn it all approach and I make use of all techniques.

Thanks for writing back. I have to check out your other video's.
The single stroke roll is one of the hardest things to master. I'm working on it everyday.
See if you can play 16ths at 130 BPM with one hand. That's my goal to pull that off and hold it 16 bars per hand.
I am aware of the push/pull method that's sort of what is going on when you use a French grip. I like the American grip and when I go fast I sometimes switch to French. In the French you get no Power though.

I can play 16th with one hand at 130 after warming up for a bit but its in no way comfortable enough to keep going for 16 bars without feeling the muscle burn lol.
With push / pull I can play nearer to 16ths at 150 BPM so I would be more inclined to use that technique for fast, one handed playing. You don't need to play in french grip either, I personally use american grip too and push / pull works just fine in any grip, although I do play a mixture of all grips where they are applicable.

All grips / techniques have their strengths and weaknesses. "Different tools for different jobs" as my teacher put it.
Thanks for watching mate :).
