not entirely. Cover 2 requires a front 4 or 3 to rush the QB without the need to blitz. Thats when it's true potential is realized.
Also there is a variation of the cover 2 called the Tampa 2, which drops a MLB into deep middle coverage, preventing TE;d from burning you down the seam

In order to run Cover 2 u have to get great pressure from ur D-Line to get to the QB or make him rush the throw to cause turnovers. U also need corners that r very physical at tha LOS to knock recievers off their routes.

Blitzing with a payton manning , tom brady , jay cutler your asking for disaster you watch the more good QB's the NFL gets the more you'll see blitzing be phased completely out. Its almost useless...

Defensive ends coming in a 3-4 (with no blitzing) means you're only bringing 3 people. That doesn't cut it in the NFL (or any other level for that matter.)

@highwater03 Zone Blitzing is too dangerous , I prefer 3-4 Defense , and Defensive Ends blitzing on the outside and thats all... Blitzing is over-rated.

Cover 2 sucks. I much prefer the 3-4 defense and zone blitzes.

cover 2 is not a prevent defence. It's designed specifically to deal with the west coast offence where 3 yard outs etc etc are completed due to the 'soft' zone'
