A couple of months+ ago we adopted two adorable pomeranians.. their owner has since passed away and it was her wish that her boys would get a nice home. They have become a part of our family pronto, I am happy to say. The owner gave us everything, which included some of the grooming tools I am confused about. Some of these look a bit serious! Any help is appreciated :)

  • how are they now? :)

  • @iHeartApple98 Hey :) We have a summer cut for Baltazaar (the wolfy-looking one) so he's a charm to take care of; the black one (King) is always easy to groom because of the type of fur he has. I don't use any of those tools! Just normal combs and brushes. Thanks!

  • All you need is the comb and slicker brush(the one with the wires)you need to brush and comb every other day to remove dead coat and any snarls that may start before they become mats. The nails can be clipped a little at a time a dremel is easier and smoother a finish. ONLY a vet should scale teeth, but you should brush they're teeth everyday just like us but use a dog toothbrush and paste its made for them. You should have no trouble they look like they have been well cared for. God bless

  • Why thank you for your very helpful tips! Very kind-hearted of you :)

  • I own 3 Poms myself & know it can become expensive having them groomed, but worth it. I simply wanted to share the importance of having them groomed including nails trimmed & teeth cleaned. The nails once long enough can get caught in carpet or upholstery(ouch!). Their teeth can have tartar build up which can lead to serious infection. So to promote good health for these little guys, please upkeep their grooming as best you can. After all, they deserve it!

  • We can spring for a 2x year professional grooming but other than that, it's up to me. They love being brushed so I am very lucky there. They even stand very patiently for me when I am doing some shaping/trimming. I am spooked to do the nails again since the little guy had a bleeder :( Broke my heart! I am going to go in with the tooth cleaning device because I agree it is very important. I'll be super careful because I can see the damage one wrong move could cause. Thanks very much, Salleon!

  • well i love pomeranians i also have on all black named scrapy well i think you should type this in on youtube it will help you a whole bunched it helped me when ii first goto my 11 month old pommerainian he is almost a year old 1 more month well try this out and tell me how it went

  • The smaller breeds have issues with dental problems so the dental tool is for removing tarter bulid up. Use the bigger side to scrap tarter starting from the gum line down and the smaller side is for between the teeth. It's not the easiest thing to do but if you don't, your vet will have to put your dog under to clean the teeth and it can cost $70 plus to get this done. The slicker brush is for de-shedding and de-matting. The steel comb is for de-matting and combing.

  • I think this video will be helpful to you...Pet Grooming with Diana - #1 Pomeranian. She uses some of the same tools you have and she has good tips on how to use them.

  • The blue, sharp one is for big tangles ^-^

  • I'd like to share a video of my "Princess" - they sure are a lot of fun and very entertaining. Have a great day! -- Salleon
