In April of 1938, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts dissolved four (4) of it's towns plus several small villages & hamlets in three other towns to form the Quabbin Reservoir in the Swift River Valley along the borders of Franklin, Hampshire & Worcester Counties. The towns that were lost were, Dana, Enfield, Greenwich & Prescott. Also lost were villages & hamlets in New Salem (Millington), Hardwick (Southworth Forks) & Pelham (East Pelham). This video is at the Enfield Outlook. It overlooks the southern tip of Prescott Peninsula where the Town of Enfield once stood. The town's center village is completely under water. Also seen in the video is an island that was the summit of Mt Zion, a small mountain that sat on the Enfield/Greenwich Town Line. Behind Mt Zion along the horizon you can see Mt Monadnock in Jaffery, NH.
Mt. Zion is barely seen in these shots - end of peninsula towards former sight of Smith's Village is shown (no prominent hill name), with Mt Pomeroy as an island in foreground - Mt Monadnock furthest on horizon.
