Shooting OOO buckshot from the Judge. These are 2.5 inch shells, and each contain three 000 buckshot soft lead balls. The shots were takes at 15 to 10 feet. The range for which this weapon was designed. I have the 3 inch cylinder version, but did not want to waste my magnum loads on test shooting. The 3 inch shells have FIVE 000 (9.5mm) balls per shell. Based on the tests with just the 2.5 ihchers, this is one deadly close range weapon.

  • how far where you from the target?

  • About 12.5 feet. I was behind the ten foot mark and in front of the 15 ft. mark. The pattern spreads quickly due to the rifling. I finally found some .45 LC rounds for it, but have not had a chance to shoot them yet.

  • If you watch closely, it looks like there are four projectile strikes per shot. The fourth one is the wad. It hit the particle board hard enough to leave a dent.

  • This is the best close range weapon I've ever seen. Consider just about ALL personal attacks happen at very close range (point blank), Home, Car, Purse, backbacking.... this is the gun for you. Not a good On Body CCW.

  • What type of 410 are you shooting? I shoot winchester super x 000 buck shot, but i think the winchesters have 5 balls instead of 3.

  • I think it is a great gun despite the haters. It fits the most likely self defense situations. Most (about 90%) gunfights occur at less than 15 feet. (perfect for this gun) Between two and three shots are fired. (Judge holds twice that) If all three pellets hit, you get 5.5ci of tissue displacement and about 18 inches of penetration (better than a .45) with 3 different wound paths. This greatly increases likelihood of a stop. I think this gun is the best choice for most situations.

  • at 12.5 feet that seems like an effective weapon for urban defense

  • one shot to the face should do it,buck or bird shot

  • you have to really consider how it will be used. i use mine as a back up trail gut moose, Grez, black bear, lions, wolves, and coyotes. I only shoot if necessary, but I love the 3 inch mag. For carry, the 2 inch version would be fine, but keep in mind, you have to be at absolute point blank range for the smaller weapon to be effective if you shoot from any distance over 10 feet from target, you will send projectiles passed target..

  • go with The Judge Public Defender. it's the smallest. i wish i had gone with that one instead of the bulky magnum.

  • im gettign one of these for my wife to put in her purse. i think ill go with 2.5 inch cylinder thou
