Wow, this is without a doubt one of the best animated charachters I have ever seen. I am a great admirer of traditional 2D animation, from Michael Dudok de Wit and Aleksander Petrov to Frank Thomas and Glen Keane. Traditional 2D is, I think, the best way to depict the soul and emotions of a character. You give me chills :)

I work as a 3D animator and I have to say that you traditional animators get my absolute fullest respect. To me thats where the real talent comes in. NO fancy models and calculations worked out, just a pencil and a whole lot of skill and patience:-) The more traditional animation the better. Excellent animation Mark

This is one of the best films I've EVER seen...

Exactly, people just do not have the budget for hand drawn animation. God knows its hard enough trying to get a cut-out show off of the ground these days. People want the earth but they just don't want to pay for it, especially when cut-out is a fraction of the cost.

great work, man! Good poses, with some nice subtle hand and head accents! If the rest of the film is as good as this, then I definitly have to check it out.

I haven't seen the whole film yet, but if it is any near the level of this animation, then I really have to get my hands on a copy! Great poses, with some lovely details like the subtle hand, head accents. Outstanding work!
dude this is some of the best animation i have ever seen. the characters are drawn great and there movement and expressions are second to none. amazing.

Thank you so much for the kind comments. At a time when the only animation you see on TV is digital cutout animation, it's good to hear that there are still people like yourself who like the traditional drawn animation I make.

There is room for both though, there are good and bad examples of all the different styles of animation out there. My personal favourite is stop-motion but cut-out is my bread and butter.

Yes, there are good and bad examples of both. Ever tightening budgets have resulted in an increase in digital cut-out though. I would like to think there was room for both, but you'd be suprised at the number of people (even 'industry people') now who, when then refer to 2D animation, ONLY mean digital cut-out. It's as though, to them, Warner Brothers, MGM/Tom & Jerry/Tex Avery and Disney never existed.

To everyone who's asked if I can upload the whole film... I can't, really. Although I did all the animation of the vole character, I don't hold the copyright to the film. The clips I've uploaded are just to show the kind of animation I produce.

the voice of the late dermot morgan

Yes, he tragically died during the production and the animation is dedicated to him. It was so sad to get to work on Monday morning, and carry on animating to Dermot Morgan's voice knowing he wasn't around to see the finished work. We were all so upset.
