Our first try to seat a brand new tire on to a rim using starting fluid and a lighter. It didnt work because the tire was brand new and when it was shipped it was strapped really tight causing the side wall to be in a deformed position. We figure out the trick to bead it was to massage the sidewall so they were flexible enough to close the gap between the edge of the rim and the tire bead. With the tighter seal it went on perfectly. Of course when it went right we didnt have our camera on (low quality cell phone video)

  • Hahahahaha, I love the "safety" people who are always there to tell you that something is unsafe. Got news for ya... the world is not safe!... but out of all the things that could hurt you in this world, seating a tire bead with starter fluid is about as low on the danger list as you can get.

  • What kind of calculator did you film this with?

  • That's why it's a poor way to seat a bead. You probably did a lot of damage to the sidewalls when they were burning, you're probably not going to get a lot of life out of that tire. That's why you shouldn't seat beads with flammable sprays, not to mention it's unsafe.
