2009-2010 NCSU Aerospace Vehicles Senior Design Team Seraph
This year's project required the design, construction, and flight test of a vertical take off and landing (VTOL) UAV capable of carrying a specified camera package intended to be used for surveillance. Our team selected a tilt-wing architecture to satisfy the customer requirements.
This is a video of the third flight of Seraph. This flight was intended to further test the aircraft's handling and qualify it again for flight at the Senior Design Picnic, since it was necessary to switch airframes after crashing during the second flight. Once again, aerobatics were performed including an aileron roll and a hammerhead. For this flight, the wind was oriented along the runway, so it was possible to land on the runway and no damage was sustained.
