@NesteHukka2 + I would say that the way we are tought to drive has something to do with it as well. During driving school we go TWICE to a slippery track and drift the hell out of it.

That was just way too light. Besides, for us finns it just comes naturally. First time I did it was by accident during winter in our lada. After that, I play around in my current bmw just for fun. I guess you just need more snow and a little bit more balls over there.

in finland we arent taught that, we just do it!

Makes it sound much harder than it is, just remember that you need some extra speed after the braking otherwise the car will not slide!

@NesteHukka2 ...the combine was a bit difficult to get into powerslide though :D

We in Finland are born with this technique. I would say, the driver applied full throttle 2 seconds too late to do a fast corner :) I think We Finns are good at it cause our roads are most time of the year slippery. Water or snow and ice :) I started practicing rally driving with junk -72 Lada 1300 and tires worn to slicks and on snow and ice. That was when I was about 14. At age of 8 I harvested 21 hectares with -74 Fahr M600 combine, as my father died and I was only who knew how to use it. :)

Looks so fun.

Blah, blah, blah......quit trying to analyze and get your butts up to Team O'Neil - they're awesome! :)

If you want to "learn" the scandinavian flick, just go out when it snows and try to drift or go round a small square, you'll figure it out yourself in a few minutes.

I think that whole downshift thing just made it harder than it is. Im sure you could not brake and, essentially, double clutch to perform this. Ah hell, I gotta find a wide road now.
Manual transmission FTW!
