1) Sam and Janet - not anyone in particular, just two appropriate Christian names that make the joke work by sounding like "Some enchanted". This is why Peter Cook is singing "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific.
2) At 6:17 Peter is talking about Arthur Bremer who tried to assassinate U.S. Democratic presidential candidate George Wallace on the 15th May 1972 in Laurel, Maryland.
