how much hp is that engine making?

"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" Well, duh! Yeah!
-
@4freespeech Interesting...does Marvel Mystery Oil perform similar to leaded fuel in these engines?
-
a friend had a 41 pontiac hearse with a straight eight flat head...great road trips...heated canned food on the engine...your engine runs smooooth....

I had a '49 Packard flathead straight eight and it was QUIET.
It ran so smooth you could stand a nickel up on its edge on
the head while it was running and it wouldn't fall over. I won
several 25 cent bets on that back in the day.
One reason these old engines sound loud and clattery now
is lack of LEAD in the gasoline. Tetraethyl lead smoothes
out the valves.

Ireally think that's the first time I've seen or heared a straight 8.

I had a 50 Buick Special.I imagine it was pretty much the same engine.Straight 8,Dynaflow and no power steering. You have no idea how difficult it was to park, lol

Always enjoy a straight eight video, thanks for sharing.
That's a beautiful piece of machinery :)

I love straight 8's. My buddy John has a '52 pontiac silver streak with flathead straight 8 and it sounds like a chior of Iron angels.
