An example of a basic neck lock used in Kung Fu and other martial arts practice. Based on the principle that a primary strike has already taken place, this is an excellent example of a neck lock as a take down. Performed by Neil McCarthy, senior coach of the UK Kung Fu School and assited by Dan Brown, based in Maidstone, Kent

  • what if, you´re really REALLY short compared to the opponent and you can´t reach...what do you do now, eh???

  • kick em in the bollocks that should bring them down to your size!!!!

  • @Jedum great question - maybe this is not a technique for you. My view is NEVER go up to your opponant, always bring him down to you.

  • his head wouldnt have mnoved back from a hit, he would be tensed in reality in a real fight. this is not deadly at all if he tenses the neck straight even if you fell down to the ground it wont hity him that much

  • @ukkungfuschool pro tip right there. Personally I do that straight away.

  • This is a cool move. However i think that in a position such as this where you are facing your opponent the moment you throw your hand in his face he is going to move back. I like later in the clip where he closes the distance and grabs the chin from behind the neck immediately.

  • nice!!

  • I've used this technique dozens of times on the street, though usually i've come up behind someone, which makes it even easier to pull off. Hook the chin, turn the head, drop them backwards, and subdue them from their. Wonderfully simple technique.

What I do is, when I get them to the ground, is keep them seated, with my knee behind their back.....they lose all leverage, and if I maintain head control, they can't get up or rollover. It's a good bargaining position.

  • +1 to that!
