"Empowering Women and Girls through Sports" Photo Contest

From neighborhood street games to professional events, these photographs should feature women and girls playing sports. This contest celebrates the U.S. Department of State's "Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative," which mobilizes sports diplomacy as a means to empower women and girls and increase the number of girls participating in sports worldwide.

Entrants must be at least 14 years or older and registered for ExchangesConnect (http://connect.state.gov), the Department of State's international online community that connects potential, current, and former educational and cultural exchange program participants so that they can discuss application processes, programs, and living abroad. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian to participate.

All entries must be uploaded to the ExchangesConnect website by September 4, 2012, and winners will be announced on October 4th.

Prizes:
Two Grand Prize winners will receive a tablet computer (iPad 3) and their entries will be displayed at the U.S. Department of State.

Runners-up will receive ExchangesConnect T-shirts and trading cards featuring the top 20 submissions.

Each member may submit a maximum of two (2) entries for consideration in the contest.
