Formula D interactive recently designed a 6 metre x 2 metre walk-through interactive brochure, an interactive wall projection for the newly redesigned Cape Town Tourism visitor centre.
Against the backdrop of 7 interchanging animated panoramic representations of the most impressive landscapes around the Cape, the interactive wall projection features 40 selected activities and sights in the Cape region, which can be activated by the visitor when walking in front of the wall.
When entering the lounge area of the centre, visitor's attention is immediately captured by the large scale audiovisual installation which covers the entire wall opposite the café. When stepping closer to the wall, a virtual shadow of the visitor emerges in form of a translucent vertical colour bar on the projected image. Echoing Cape Town Tourism corporate design element of the rainbow, the colourful bars move with the visitor's motion, indicating to them that this installation is interactive and not just a prerendered projection. Soon after they will find out that when stepping onto the rainbow coloured strip on the floor in front of the wall, and aligning themselves with one of the projected icons on the wall, they trigger pop-ups with attractions in the area.
