Climate analyses use long time series of data to compute historical averages, and then look at how data from a given period of time (monthly, seasonal, annual, etc.) differ from that average. These anomalies present ways to gauge the change in parameters over time. This visualization examines how precipitation, temperature, snow and ice cover, and other environmental variables in 2009 compared to these climatological averages.
