The manual recommends turning the engine without the fuel connected to use the compression to pop off the head, but with a blown head gasket there is no real compression at hand start speeds - so I try a more radical approach. Don't try this at home - it would make a black sooty mess of your curtains! :-)

Please realise that this engine is run without any water in it, and that the exhuast manifold has been removed to allow the removal of the cyclinder head. I'm an trained professional - unfortunately not in engine maintainance!! :-)

  • @tylerdahomie Not a lot really, you can see the head move a little, but I hadn't realised I had to take of the hollow stud bolts thanks to some poor drawings in the manual.
