I would like to further the comment made above by adding that, not only would it be the equivalent of "choosing to be straight", it's even worst because being a homosexual is then deliberately "choosing" to be an often oppressed and discriminated minority of society. I think we could all agree no one in the right mind would choose to be an outcast.
