This second part is of me operating a one of today's not-so-well made fans, which in this case is a Lasko Wind Machine fan. In this video, you will see something that occurs quite often with today's plastic fans. Another reason to go to your local antique shop, flea market, etc, or even think of joining the Antique Fan Collectors Association and getting yourself a nice antique steel blade (or brass blade) fan to keep nice and cool in front of when the summer heat arrives. In addition, you should also check out Fanimation as they make and sell some very well made, and potentially long lasting fans. In fact, even many plastic fans made in the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s were much better quality than today's fans.

Additionally, by the way, as a last resort, you can also check out what kinds of vintage fans are for sale on Ebay. Though I do have to warn you; those brass bladed fans tend to get rather expensive with all that bidding!

  • I have the lasko wind machine. Its not too bad although I don't expect it lasting more than a few years. Moves a nice bit of air and was quite cheap at walmart

  • @MrArizonagreentea1 You might want to glue the blades on the shaft, however, unless you enjoy periodically taking the fan apart to put the blades back on the motor.

  • Very epic video! Man that sure shows why you don't want to buy today's junk! And yes, even the plastic bladed fans built during the 70's and 80's were well built and made to last and were made right here in the USA. I have 4 vintage plastic bladed Lakewood box fans from the 70's and 80's, a late 70's or early 80's 12" blue bladed Galaxy table fan and a Galaxy tilting table or floor fan from circa 1973.

  • @beauloftis1976 In fact, the only place/company I know of that sells good quality fans today is Fanimation.
