  • dude explain how this is better than osx or windows by it self.

Can you run osx on ubuntu aswell?

I've been looking at buying a render beast of a mac - though the price is MASSIVE. Can I get a faster rendering machine with ubuntu?

If you run windows (and/or osx) on top of ubuntu are you not slowing it down?

  • I'm not sure if you can do OS 10 in virtual box, I bet someone has found out a way to do it though. I don't think it's faster for rendering than OSX native on a beast mac. I'll have to play around with sony vegas benchmarks on my machine, that could be another video. Cool Star Wars movie btw

  • vmware player is beter

  • @mickoin yes u can

  • Hey u install Windows XP in a virtual machine or u boot a Windows XP from a diferente Partition or diferente HDD whit VM?

I need to install both systems in diferent HDD and do the same that u do

    Sorry about my english!

    Nice vid!

  • virtual box is amazing just getting started with it.

  • how did you get your virtual box to go full screen? when i maximize, it only shows the little box with black edges around the VM. your XP was able to use the entire screen w/o the black edges.

  • mickoin

you could get hold of vmware player and a copy of the vm config file for os x and also use a osx retail

    hope this helps

  • i7 has 4 cores, not 8. 4 cores + hyperthreading = 8 threads

  • yeah pretty sure im going to go this way now - been customising a few builds - even if i go 8 core pc it still works out cheaper that's insane. But 8 core may be overkill unless I turn into lucasarts and am suddenly cg'ing every movie on earth

  • Dude, the Macs are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. You can buy a Core i7 920 setup with 8 GBs of RAM for half the price, then install 64-bit Arch Linux and get x264 and run it with 8 threads, and there you have your rendering beast.
