Hong Kong Marathon 2009 (part 1) - Join the race, Feel the energy!

8 Feb 2009 (SCTV) -- Standard Chartered Bank has sponsored the Hong Kong Marathon for over 10 years, starting from 1997. Through this sponsorship, the Bank promotes a healthy lifestyle and the marathon spirit in Hong Kong's community.

The annual race has attracted high participation from local and international runners and has become the largest participatory sporting event in Hong Kong, and a source of pride for Hong Kong's community.

The event has also raised over US$2 million for "Seeing is Believing" and the "Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled".
With the continued support and endorsement of the Education Bureau, the "Marathon 101 Education Programme" attracts overwhelming participation from primary and secondary schools. In 2008, more than 60% of the schools in Hong Kong joined the Programme.
