Melissa: Its...Well...There's a lot so I guess Ill just...okay. So the break during tour I went to a party at Pete's.
Denise: Well there's your first mistake. You know that we would never let you go to one of those parties. I cant believe you would so deliberately disobey us.
Melissa: I know, but at the time I didn't think anything would happen so I just went. Everyone was drinking and—
Kevin Sr.: Melissa, you know better!
Melissa: I know. Its...just...this would be a lot easier if you just let me tell the whole thing and didn't keep reminding me how I made such bad choices.
Denise: Well try and restrain ourselves.
Melissa: We were all drinking and were playing this game and I had to strip. I don't totally remember it. We drank more . I don't remember hooking up with that guy. I don't remember anything else from that night. The next morning was worse. I woke up with a huge hangover and I was still at Pete's. Tyler was there too and the night before. I...I made a huge mistake. Tyler and I...we...
Kevin Sr.: You had sex with him?
I was thankful that he caught on and I didn't have to say it. I just nodded my head and waited for them to explode with anger.
Denise: You never told us. I cant believe this.
Melissa: I don't even remember it. He had tried to pressure me to do it before, but I told him no. If I had been myself that I night I wouldn't have done it.
Kevin Sr.: I don't even know what to say. What else do you have to hide?
Melissa: (She was about to cry, but she would not make herself seem any more vulnerable and she swallowed her tears.) A lot.
Denise: What else could there be?
Melissa: He got me pregnant.
It was so much easier to be blunt, but it just made the reaction much harsher.
Denise: I mean that was months ago. You're not now? You're not showing I mean...You didn't get an abortion did you? You couldn't have. What happened?
Melissa: No, I would never. You know that. I'm clearly not pregnant now.
Denise: So what happened?
Melissa: Do you remember that hospital visit? Well I passed out because I had a miscarriage because I was so stressed out. I didn't know what to do.
Denise: If you had told us we would have helped you. Why didn't you tell us? You cant keep something like that a secret forever. We would have helped you.
Melissa: I was going to tell you. I just hadn't found the right time to do it or the right thing to say, but after the miscarriage I figured that if I wasn't pregnant anymore I could get away with not telling you. I was so wrong. You finding out this way is so much worse than if I had just told you.
Kevin Sr.: The way you handled this was so immature. I don't think you could have handled the responsibility of a child. You don't seem to understand how serious this is.
Melissa: I do. I feel so guilty about all of it. It was the biggest mistake of my life.
