hey man wats the craic, listen I was only being tongue in cheek. I actually love this song. If I'm being honest Jools Holland is the first time I have listened to Roy Harper.
I interpret this song as a valid critique of the hegemony of the whiteman today and throughout a large part of world history. It reminds me of Neil Young's classic Cortez the killer.
This racist? R u joking? If a person of colour sang it, then that might be arguable. Ever heard of self-criticism.
This song was really inspiring when i first heard it in 1971 - and still is - when at Leeds Uni. It successfully deploys a shock tactic ie word 'hate';
apartheid wa in full swing with the UK white elite living off the backs of black ppl.
For example. Only a few years after first serious laws v Jim Crow
He took himself way too seriously.

Really nice tones in his guitar playing. Nice low notes come through well.

This song is very racist. You can tell by Roy's expression after finishing up that he feels rather ashamed of himself to be singing it :) :)
