The GOP just can't get enough of the "S" word. Every time President Obama announces a new policy, they are too quick to shout "Socialism," without realizing what Socialism actually means. Luckily, Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire confronted Fox News' Bulls and Bears to inform them that nationalized healthcare does not a socialist nation make.

  • Mr. Smith needs to stop it. The government already runs a system called Medicare. It runs pretty well too, with a 3% overhead as opposed to 22% for the private insurers.

We need universal coverage. Need it. It isn't a want, it's a need. And complain it's socialism, ha, how abut fire departments, police departments, public schools, SSI, etc.? But people in the U.S. confuse socialism with communism.

  • Is the host related to Tammy Faye Baker? I still don't understand why Mike wastes his time arguing with idiots. They act like America (the country that is drowning in debt to so-called socialist nations) is the golden standard is just laughable. We need to wake up and smell the coffee.

  • 2:24 is he a nigger, white or just potatoface? xD

  • SO. FUCKING. STUPID. Not a single socialist country was named!

  • You can't be for small government and support government enforced patentts and other regulations that help maintain the quai-monopolies pharmaceutical companies have in this country. I am all about small goverment...but I am not an apologist for private enterprises attempts to rationalize their selfishness. So either the goverment protects the people from private enterprise or the goverment stops protecting private enterprise from the people - its one or the other in our system.

  • The right wingers on this show love to use the slippery slope fallacy.

  • These guys seem to be sprouting how much they think they know about economics, completely ignoring the fact that there is market failure in the world, i.e. what kd1s is alluding to with the public goods of police etc. Many counties take different views on whether or not certain things should be provided by the state.

Public healthcare per person is the cheapest way of running things, its just a statistical fact. If you live in a society, healthcare is probably the simplest level of fairness.

  • @Serpico261 the dude was an unhealthy burnt orange
