The main theme of "Dialogue with a Christian Proselytizer" (a Socratic dialogue between a Christian apologist/proselytizer and a skeptic): "If you understand why you reject all the other religions, you'll understand why I reject yours."

  • your day or two comment between the age of earth and the sun.

This also applies to the big bang. The earth was the first thing created in genesis. The earth and sun are MUCH younger than the universe. but there is no mention of this. and water above the firmament is an explaination of rain, then the fact that the sun, moon and stars were under this sky water shows that they thought that everything was actually in the sky (language used reflects this lack of knowledge), not light years away.

  • > I'm interested as to how scientists have come up with how old the universe is. How accurate are we? As for The big bang ...

For a great video series on this, check out the channel of YouTuber "potholer54." On his channel's page, see his playlist called "From Big Bang to Us."

  • I need to do much more studying on this subject. Your right it's much too much to discuss here. But on the subject of genesis how can you tell a day or two difference when things were created? I'm interested as to how scientists have come up with how old the universe is. How accurate are we? As for The big bang it is a plausible explaination as to how the universe began with God taken out of the equation. Rather than give God the credit it just happened. Great theory if your an atheist.

  • Todd it's so hard for me to grasp an atheist's belief. That in an atheists mind this is what he truly accepts. I understand it. But I can never accept it for myself. I just think there is something greater out there. I think our existance has always been just a discovery process. Like technology. If humanity knew how to make a computer in ancient times it could have been done if he had the knowledge. I think that knowledge is from God we just discovered how to mix a with b to see what works.

  • > Todd - So I guess you would say you are an atheist who does not rule out the possibility of A creator? But still rejects claims in religion.

Yes. All the claims of "knowledge of God" make much more sense from the perspective that they were composed not by an Infallible Wisdom, but by quite fallible man.

  • > Can you give me an example of evidence your talking about with genesis?

Chapter 1 of Genesis has it that the earth is older than the sun, and that God created all the animals on Days 5 & 6.

    > Because how accurate are we on how old the universe or the earth is .. evolution ... Big Bang ...

This is a huge subject - an excellent website for information is TalkOrigins(DOT)org. Plus there's the encyclopedia, Natural History Museums, etc. -- but it's not something I can address in a YT comment.

  • > I like your videos!

    Thanks!

  • Can you give me an example of evidence your talking about with genesis? Because how accurate are we on how old the universe or the earth is? How accurate are we with evolution, when all animals continue to be fruitful and multiply? Animals didn't just pop into existence like everything in genesis it was a creation. The same thing could be said about the big bang. Was that God when he said let there be light? Or did it just pop into existence? Aside from theorys where is the evidence?

  • Todd - So I guess you would say you are an atheist who does not rule out the possibility of A creator? But still rejects claims in religion. I know in all of God's wisdom it would seem he would appreciate the fact that we are all here just trying to just figure it all out. I want to see the contradicting claims. I will research this.

  • 2 of 2:

    - an afterlife and *no* afterlife,

    - a Satan and *no* Satan,

    - a loving god and a sadistic god,

    - etc.

    > And I do not see anything in the book of genesis that describes the sun or the moon or animals in any weird way that could not be understood in this day and age.

What about Genesis' claim that the earth appeared before the sun? That all animals popped into existence on Days 5 and 6? Such claims are utterly contradictory to well-supported evidence.
