Normally I do not upload videos of subjects that are unrelated to aviation and airshows, but I figured I would share this video with everyone. What you see here is a thunderstorm off in the distance, shot on Friday May 14, 2010 at roughly 9:00 pm. Prior to 9:00 pm, a VERY STRONG thunderstorm passed through the DC metro area (specifically over Andrews AFB, which is what you see in the background), with one lighting strike happening steps from where this video was shot. You could very well call the lightning as heat lightning, but that's not the correct term. The storms in the area threatened to drop massive hail and threats of tornadoes. Needless to say, I did not see any indication of possible tornadic activity nor did I see or hear any hail.
Please feel free to comment this video... I know it's not very exciting, but I think you'll enjoy it if you're a weather geek!
If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
i am terrified when the storm is by me, but fascinated when not. Thanks for this amazing video!

We were driving to our hotel @ Waldorf, MD while you were taping this, and there was a lot of hail on the ground when we got there.

That storm passed through Dover about an hour or two ago. Reminds me of home (Oklahoma)!
