Lord Burnham laments the loss of peers like Lord Stanley. Lord Mancroft on the rise of self-serving career politicians. Lord Carrington on the future of the Second Chamber.
If they were going to do this threy should've just gone all the way and really reformed the system and had a fixed number of lords from Scotland, Wales, and England who could run independently of party and each serve 10 year terms. It would give people a voice in the house of lords while having stability in terms of job security. Just an idea.
