Amelita Galli-Curci sings a very well-known piece of Grieg, "Solvejg's song" from 'Peer Gynt' suite. Recorded for Victor in 1917. This is one of my best favorite recording of Galli-Curci.

Played on my Victrola with Mica soundbox.

  • Also definitely worth hearing are the versions by Lucia Popp and Eileen Farrell.

  • This is the greatest Solvejgs sang ever sung, and by the greatest soprano the world has seen. Thank you very much for placing it on Youtube, it made my norwegian heart jump in joy. :)

  • Great recording.

  • qué bonita

  • @meltzerboy Ilse Hollweg also made a pleasant recording f the song, in German, contributing to the Beecham conducted EMI set of Peer Gynt pieces issued in or about the late 1950s. There was also a nicely sung (English) version by April Cantelo, issued originally I think on the Unicorn label. and later by the World Record Club.
