That's really interesting, what a big power supply you've got there, what are its specs?
-
maybe you should have done it with an old phongraph record.
-
wow iv never seen this before! its brilliant idd love to do that 1 thing how do you get hold of a dc motor?
-
That's pretty cool. I think that was my record you ruined. See if you can design K-nex to perform a colonoscopy.

Very interesting. Well explained and filmed. Keep fine tuning it and put up another vid with a little better sound.

The power supply is a tektronix 2520G. It is overkill for this application. Any 0-10V 2A supply will work (depending on the motor you use).

You can use the K'nex motor that's supplied in the kits, it does run at about 33rpm! the only trade-off is that the motor runs unstable so you get unstable playback. But still it's pretty amazing! I think in the next build I will use a dedicated motor and speed control :) This totally inspired me now!

thanks for the comments. You might want to try spraying some silicone lube on the friction areas to help keep the drive more constant, I also noticed that the speed changed at different points in the rotation.
