Get yer yahs yahs out. Clean up that .44 Magnum, dust off the leather p-coat and put on your sharpest pork pie. 'Cause we're talking crime that's gritty and stylin' that verite thing. We discourse on The French Connection, it's sequel, the psuedo sequel The 7-Ups, Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, God Told Me To and more.

  • You guys made me buy this film and i just have to say THANK YOU! Great movie! Greetings from Sweden.

  • @guely55 Thank you from a fellow Swede from the USA. Hope you're a subscriber and a member of The Facebook page! BTW, what film did we make you buy?

  • @cinefiles

Yep a subscriber. The Taking of Pelham One Two Three was the movie. I have a big collection, lots of books about movies and I've been around for a while, So, I am always gratefull when someone discover me a very good movie as you did guys.

  • @guely55 Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. I would also recommend that you watch 'The Silent Partner'. Don't look up anything about the plot, or the movie will be ruined. Just watch, and I know you'll love it!

  • I love the french connection but i know one person who doesnt like it, he recons its poorly made and badly acted and then came out and said that he thinks transformers 2 was of the most well crafted and best made films ever, gives you an idea how many idiots there are out there.

  • The "famous" scene from The French Connection in the subway is despite being awesome a straight rip-off from Le Samourai by Jean-Pierre Melville.

  • Great episode guys, would love to see more of them posted here. I thought you would have mentioned that "Pelham 123" has one of the best acknowledgements in it's closing credits - "This fim was made with absolutely no help whatsoever from the New York City Transport Authority" - especially considering Jeff's occupation!

Also, how about doing an episode on Kubrick's films?

  • Excellent lads!

  • THE FRENCH CONNECTION rocks. But I felt that the Cops in the film were kind of creepy.

  • @cinefiles okay i'll let that be accepted lol

  • @cinefiles

Okay, I will go blind on this one. Haven't seen it or heard of (maybe i was overestimating myself!) If you want you can have a look on my blog : guelyofsweden

In the english section (i write in spanish as well) under movies you might find something interesting. Last i write was about Barfly (with the dirty Mickey Rourke) is not from the seventies but i was impress in good way!

  • @HingwayFilms It was made in '79 and released in March of '80s, so it just barely makes it.

  • @beachn69 Didn't leave it out/ We plan to do an entire show on the series. Mike hasn't seen them all - that's why we haven't done it earlier. Serpico was reviewed on the Lumet show.

  • How could you leave Dirty Harry out? That set the standard for cop movies. Another is Serpico. Come on guys....Lets not be too good for the room

  • the warriors is one of the best movies ever!

  • @MartinKoolhoven We didn't talk about it as we cant to do a whole show devoted to the series. In addition, we wanted to talk about NYC cop films, and the Dirty Harry series is a product of San Fran.
