rabengeraun: Glenn Gould was abit eccentric. He had some peculiar ways, but that does not mean that he was crazy. He was some sort of genius but in a different way. He was genius in mind, yes, but also in soul. Noone can now copy any of his ways because Gould is Gould. Nevertheless, noone can "play" like him.

On se demande, comment il y arrive, c'est stupéfiant !

"What else !!"

Il joue, maintenant, loin des hommes, devant Dieu. Pour les hommes.

toppo gigio playing piano??
-
What a loony - he only got away with this because some bunch of nerds who dared to call themselves music-experts liked him

the ornamentation he adds (?) from 0:40 is stunning-great elan. It's always a joy to hear Gould play music which he clearly loved.

Glenn was one with the piano. It wasn't a separate object that he played. It was an extension of his body just as much as his voice was.
I suppose you could say that about many great pianists. But Glenn's connection to his music is so captivating to my ears that sometimes other great pianists' versions of Gould's favorite pieces sound distant and dull by comparison.
