I Must Have That Man Billie Holiday 1937
In a session in January that year Billy recorded with another team of famous musicians: Benny Goodman on clarinet who was her lover for a short time, Lester Young tenor sax who loved her musically all his life, Buck Clayton trumpet, Teddy Wilson piano, Freddie Green guitar, Walter Page bass and Jo Jones drums, a team nobody could go wrong with and the star singer was only 21 years old.

l had this song on a reel to reel recorded straight from the radio speaker back in the late fifties and l'd all but given up hopes of finding it again,so,many thanks. It was commented then that Billy Holiday was the only singer that could make a banal pop song sound like the fall of man. How very true !

I always loved Billie. But these days this song feels like a big hug of understanding to me, because I feel the EXACT same way. Damnit... :/
