Cover of Cinderella Man by Rush on guitar, played along to backing tracks (minus the guitar track) from a session with the Rush cover band I jam with sometimes.

  • Well, I look forward to the new version with the whammy bar. Wasn't trying to be negative and I hope you took my criticism as constructive. Keep it up.

  • @jacksecret No sweat, you are correct in your comments. What I must point out is that I do this for fun and although I do try to remain authentic to Alex's masterpieces, I don't typically beat myself up trying to duplicate everything in a completely identical fashion. I get as close as I can for my abilities and the time I'm willing to put into it and just go with it. There is always a little of myself in the versions/interperetations I do. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Well done merlin. Never heard this covered so well, or ever!

  • @TNorb Thanks! I do it with a Gibson now that has a Floyd Rose trem AND piezo pickups so I can get the acoustic/electric blend and also do the whammy on the solo (which is more authentic to the original solo Alex played on AFTK)

  • love the transitions between acoustic and electric tones. VERY NICE!

  • @HometownGold Thanks!!

  • I commented how good the La Villa video is and now I must lean the other way. During the electric verses you are strumming the chords in time with the vocal line when it is supposed to be strummed with the drums. The effect of this is to not only be wrong but to give it a disjointed, chaotic feel. This solo is one of those all time greatest Alex solos and, in my opinion, does not leave room for the same liberties you took , and had some success with in La Villa. You can do way better on this.

  • What kind of pedal setup. It looks like you have some sort of volume/wah setup that controls your gain when you switch from acoustic to dirty? I want something like for gear so when I switch to clean, I can get that acoustic sound. I already know I need a piezo put in. But what kind of system do you have going there? All I ever did was plug in and just use my foot switch with a flange and wah...I wanna expand a little. Oh, you're amazing. I added you to my page.

  • @Spector2112 Thanks man!!

  • @JTrials31 Yes it is a PRS Hollowbody II with a piezo system that I had for a while. I no longer own that guitar, I sold it to buy a Gibson. PRS are great axes and overall quality is better than Gibsons but I still prefer playing Gibsons.
