Movie Proposal: Sebastian Flyte Vs. The World. In an alternate universe that contains both ragtime and e-mail, Sebastian must defeat Charles's seven evil exes... The plot culminates in Charles agreeing to stay with Sebastian despite Seabstian being unmotivated and unemployed.
I'm sorry. I am very sorry.

Alcoholism was one of the biggest contributors to the destruction of the great friendship. I'm aware of the other forces that also tore apart the friendship but the friendship would have survived if Sebastian had not so clouded his judgement with alcohol. Sebastian would have dragged Charles away from the poisonous family except Sebastian was too drunk to do that.

@lizclegg Ah, that's what makes the world interesting; differences of opinion. Later on in the story, however, she improvesd, IMO, toward the end.

@ericnfan What are you talking about. Sebastian is in extreme pain. And if anything the friendship is one-sided in favour of Charles not Sebastian. Charles wants Sebastian because of what Sebastian represents: Brideshead and the wealth, beauty, refinement which goes with that. Sebastian wanted Charles because Charles made him feel that he was important, needed, and had value. Now Sebastian has lost that. Charles is still getting what he wants.

@breadandbutterr It's complicated. It has to do with the Catholic theme.

Cordelia is SUCH a pain in the ass, obnoxious ugly girl, ugh.
@skylur44 I think Cordelia is delightful, and, so far, probably the closest thing to a decent human being in the family.

@breadandbutterr He can't help him, Sebastian has shut him out and no one can help him now; if his mother had only left him alone he might have been OK and recovered.
