you dont know what your talkin about.. if you are wanting to replace a tile how are you supposed to "tap all the way around" when the tile you want to take out is surrounded by other tile.. what you are supposed to do is scrape all the grout surrounding the tile with a utility knife. you then lightly chissel out one corner of the tile. then simple chissel the tile from the bottom up.. clean all thinset then simply replace and grout

this is indeed labor intensive. tiles come off alot easier on "how to" videos.

To remove a lot of tiles, an electric jackhammer can be a lifesaver. You can rent them for around $50 and do a large room in a matter of minutes.  I would only use the hammer+chisel if you had less than a dozen to remove.
