I have an H&R Buffalo Hunter in .45-70 and a Sharps repro in .45-120. The H&R with blackpowder cartridges is fine and shoots great. Rechambering the H&R to .45-120 is neat, but this rifle is lightweight to begin with. Recoil has got to be pretty stiff. Even in a 12 pound Sharps, the .45-120 recoil is noticeable.

I like it.
Are you still able to shoot .45/70 in this gun?

You can, but I do not.

@tykempster why not?

@intezam You get the rest of the chamber dirty since the longer brass isn't in there. Can make it hard to chamber longer rounds if it gets too gunky.
