@MrsTefee He has boots on his back feet. Light colored nails will often be softer than nails that are black. He was grinding them down to bloody stumps jumping from the decking into the pool. The boots are to protect his back feet.

@saimon1969 He wears boots on his back feet because he grinds his nails down to bloody stumps from launching himself off the side of the pool decking. light colored nails are softer than the dark colored ones.
