In a joint initiative leading up to International Womens Day on March 8, British Council, Chennai and Women of Worth (WOW) are inviting entries of paintings, photographs, short stories and poetry around the theme, Dark is Beautiful. Dark is Beautiful is an awareness campaign that seeks to draw attention to the toxic effects of skin colour bias and also celebrates the beauty and diversity of all skin tones.

Yes- dark is indeed beautiful. I think within a few generations the old attitudes will fade away. People are already marrying people of different skin tones. The media controls much of the stereotypes, but I think people are getting wiser over such trivial things such as one's skin tone.
