The legendary Dorothy Squires, back in her home town of Llanelli, South Wales on 8th October 1966, singing "Song of the Valley" and "We'll Keep a Welcome in the Hillside" and bringing down the house in the process. Love her or hate her, you have to admit she was one of a kind!

  • @philjon I was lucck to see her live between 1973 and 1990, was at her last ever concert at Brighton, a great star who deserved wider success but it seems was sometimes her own worst enemy but then it was that spirit and passion that tore into audiences hearts, she remains for me one of the greats as an entertainer amongst Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Vic Damone, dame Shirley Bassey etc, I wish her `lost` Glasgow recording could be traced and `Old Rowley` show produced. Bravo Dorothy!

  • Another welsh vocalist, Shirley Bassey, recorded the second song, as well!

Dorothy should have been a bigger star like Shirley, i'm sure she inspired Shirley!

  • this was the record that kick started the second great phase of dots career.from the success of this she gained the confidence to book those legendary PALLADIUM concerts. the rest as they say is history.

  • I'm from Ystrad........living in denmark........love this makes me homesick

  • Dot was absolutely great. Thank you for keeping the legend alive. Never forgotten, Dot ... love you
