U have a point. But, the government is supposed to give us suggestions, not demands. For instance, if you smoke, I think you're a fool for doing so and so would the federal policy. But, they can't force you to give it up, hence freedom. It's not supposed to create a health care system that is opperated by people in power who think they can make better decisions about your lifestyle than you.

The problems with the current system are largely due to the fact that health insurance companies have owned so many US politicians for so long. Why do you think the health insurance companies fought so hard against health care reform? We are governed by the Constitution not the Declaration of Independence. "Provide for the general welfare" means exactly what it says. One of the purposes of the federal government is to promote the health and welfare of its citizens. Pretty simple concept.
