Quite interesting that there are many vids showing this process, but yet to find one without the following errors...
You should not allow the halves of the ruler to bang together!
You should read only from one edge of the ruler, unless, that is, you are absolutely certain that the two edges are exactly parallel - most are not.
Of course, the vid says that the equivalent magnetic bearing can be lifted from the inner rose of this chart - doubtful, IMO, without corrections.
